The White Horse Alliance is an umbrella organisation for local people and environmental groups who are campaigning to preserve the countryside around Westbury in Wiltshire and who oppose a bypass road through the Wellhead Valley, which is at the foot of the Westbury White Horse Escarpment.

The Government rejected the proposal by Wiltshire County Council to build the A350 Westbury Bypass in July 2009. The Government decision supported the recommendation of inspectors who examined the planning application at a public inquiry in 2008.

Wiltshire County Council had proposed a new 'strategic route' between the south coast and the M4 motorway, defying the regional strategy and rejecting transport solutions which reduce traffic and pollution. WCC's proposed new road would have meant fewer lorries going past about 230 properties in Westbury, but it would have made conditions worse in neighbouring villages. Most people in the area opposed WCC's eastern bypass scheme; they preferred a plan which would benefit all and protect the environment.
